craft fairs!

As usual, this time of year just seems to get busier and busier! I have been applying for a couple different grants for big (potential) projects in 2011, we have almost wrapped up our first year with C'ville Foodscapes, and I have put some stuff in a couple of craft fairs that will happen during this holiday season.
I made a whole bunch of prints, some wooden flower vases, and will finish some t-shirts pretty soon.

c-ville interview!

Check out this week's C-ville Weekly for a nice little interview they did with me!
Read it here

Robin Macklin took the photo for the interview and I like it because I look silly happy.  Like maybe I have a few screws loose...

fancy images!

I just wanted to post a few of the beautiful pictures that Charlottesville photographer (and awesome lady) Barrie Humphries took of CHEER ON.  I am only putting up a few of the shed, but she took a ton of awesome images of the whole installation.  Thanks Barrie!

art show in japan!

I am part of a group show in Tsuruga, Japan! The show is called Warmers and will be up for the month of December at Pinon Pinon! It will be up when Sharon Van Etten plays at the space on her Japan tour. More details soon!
Until then, here are the three pieces I sent over there:

Our awesome new housemate came with some little friends!  One of them has taken to keeping me warm/helping me with my email correspondence/being really cute all over my computer!

feast!

I worked on a collaborative piece for an awesome group show this month.  The show is called Feast.  In the spirit of feasting, the show features 22 local artists that were all paired to make 11 pieces.  I worked with the wonderful Natalie Race, and we made a piece inspired by quilts and the moths that feast on them. The show opens tonight!
Here is a picture of my part (I will post one of the finished piece once I get a nice image of it!):

show in brooklyn!

When I lived with Jason in New York, we talked about making a couple of different zine projects. One of them was called AWKHOLD. The original idea was that the zine would be awkward to hold -- hence the name. Anyway, I moved back to Virginia (again and again) and he went forward with the project, putting out the first zine as a collection of prints/drawings/things in a 7'' record sleeve.  AWKHOLD2 is in the works. I have some work in the first issue. The pieces from these publications are included in an annex show of the New York Art Book Fair this weekend at Monster Island in Williamsburg, Brooklyn!
